Today I received the most interesting email from a bride who loved most details of my wedding. I was so flattered to read that she wanted my advice on vendors. She is having her wedding in Puerto Rico next spring and felt excited when she was reviewing my photos. Her dilemma is she is vacationing on a cruise ship that departs from Florida and docks in PR where she will hop off for her wedding, due to cruise ship regulations she isn't allowed to bring her flowers back on. She wanted to know if I knew of a florist who works with silk flowers. Awhile ago, I had planned on using silk flowers because I love the idea of keeping your bouquet. Pulling my hair out over details....

Just about every bride hits a moment where nothing looks right, the colors are all wrong, the style of cake becomes a 5 tier nightmare and your stuck in a world of tulle verse satin. Details can be completely overwhelming on all levels. Friends and family grow tired of hearing about the 6 shades of pink that are completely different to you but all the same to them. It's a brides dream to have the perfect wedding. I don't care if your throwing a wedding with a guest list of 20 or 200. The fact is it's your day. If your anything like me you searched the web for every photo of red shoes you could find and nothing seemed quite right.

...(Insert Big Sigh)....Take a deep breathe and back away from your pile of Modern Bride magaizines and log off your computer. I know it's hard but you can do it.

When I put this wedding together Lisa became my Mom, Sister, Wedding Planner and Friend. She took my endless amount of emails, phone calls and drama. She was the boat that carried me to the shore, when I thought I couldn't handle one more wedding choice. Sometimes, a wedding planner is simply there to calm you down and set you back on track. She is there to look at your five shades of pink, give you tips on tulle, find you just the right cake, decode your endless emails on the type of location of your dreams, and simply take your calls on all the drama of planning a wedding. I had my rehearsal dinner here on a warm and windy night. I had never been to this hotel before, Lisa recommended it and she did not let us down. As I walked down the pathway I was struck by how open it is, white walls and path way that leads you to an outdoor restaurant, tables and chairs, couches and beds.... The hotel is not only charming but it offered their guests that perfect island feel. Candles burned, drinks were flowing, DJ playing, food was perfect, and the Bride most of all was happy! Why not try something new? My dream dress was black but that might have taken it a few steps to far. Being creative means thinking outside the box. Here are a few great tips when considering your wedding dress:

You know you body better than anyone else. your body. Pick out a dress that helps highlight your amazing shape. Most ladies lose a few pounds or tone up before the big day. Make sure you pick out a dress shape that is realistic for your body shape..
Have a clear idea of the tone you want to set. Do you want a formal wedding, a casual wedding, a semi formal wedding. Your dress will set the tone for your wedding.
Stay true to your creative style and research what you want. There are so many wedding designers out there to pick from. You should have no issues finding a dress that is perfect for you and your big day. Most of all make sure you LOVE it. Remember your will have pictures of yourself in that dress to last a lifetime.

You have sandy beaches, sunny weather, beautiful Puerto Rico water and best of all an island wedding planner willing to meet your every need. All you need is a little imagination.

It all starts with a theme....Mine had to be Spanish! With a dash of lace, lot's of color, paper flowers, fans, and anything that would sparkled in my photographs. Sometimes the simplist of items can help you create a theme for your perfect day! Choose something simple and build around that idea. You never know where it will take you.

My Story.....

I'm Christina (the Bride) and I got married on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico! It was not only amazing, magical and romantic but more dreamy that I could have ever hoped for. I chose Puerto Rico for my wedding, not because I live there, not because I grew up there and not because I'm Puerto Rican, none of those things apply to me. I got married in Puerto because for me there was other place in the world I could dream of having my wedding. Just like so many tourist, I took a mini vacation to Puerto Rico before my cruises ship was due to leave. I planned on touring Puerto Rico, three extra days before my cruise left port. By the time I got on the ship to start my cruise, I was dreaming of when the ship would land back in PR. I loved it so much that while on the ship I was calling the El San Juan Hotel & Casino to book two extra days so I could fall more in love with PR. It was on that very cruise ship I met and fell in love, with my husband. You see for me there was no other choice and it could have never happened without Lisa Rodriguez.

Now as the weeks go by, I am going to show you how I pulled my wedding together all the way from Virginia with Lisa's guidance and friendship we created my dream wedding. Destination weddings are not easy! You need help and if you believe, no matter the budget, anything and I mean ANYTHING is possible.
